Autopilot
Autopilot automatically generates social media content on topics you define, on a schedule you set. It's like having a content assistant that never forgets to post.
How it works
- You create a topic with a description of what to post about
- You set a cadence (how often to generate)
- You select target platforms
- Amplicast's AI generates fresh, original posts on that topic at the scheduled intervals
Setting up a topic
- Go to the Autopilot tab
- Click New Topic
- Fill in:
- Topic name -- A short label (e.g., "AI industry insights")
- Description -- Detailed instructions for the AI on what to write about
- Cadence -- Daily, every 2 days, weekly, etc.
- Target platforms -- Which platforms should receive these posts
- Click Save & Activate
Writing good topic descriptions
The description is the most important field -- it tells the AI exactly what kind of content to create. Be specific:
Too vague:
Write about technology
Better:
Share practical insights about how small businesses can use AI tools to save time on marketing. Focus on actionable tips, real examples, and keep a conversational tone. Target audience: small business owners and solopreneurs who are not technical.
Cadence options
| Cadence | Generates |
|---|---|
| Daily | Once per day |
| Every 2 days | Every other day |
| Every 3 days | Every 3 days |
| Weekly | Once per week |
| Biweekly | Every 2 weeks |
Managing topics
- Pause -- Temporarily stop generation without deleting the topic
- Edit -- Update the description or cadence anytime
- Delete -- Permanently remove the topic and stop future generation
- View history -- See all posts generated from this topic
Tips
- Start with 1-2 topics and adjust based on engagement
- Review generated content periodically to refine your topic descriptions
- Combine Autopilot with your writing style settings for consistent brand voice
