Bluesky

Amplicast supports publishing to Bluesky via the AT Protocol.

Connecting Bluesky​

Unlike other platforms, Bluesky uses an App Password instead of OAuth:

  1. Go to Channels and click Connect Bluesky
  2. Enter your Bluesky handle (e.g., yourname.bsky.social)
  3. Enter an App Password (not your main password)

Creating an App Password​

  1. Go to bsky.app/settings/app-passwords
  2. Click Add App Password
  3. Give it a name like "Amplicast"
  4. Copy the generated password and paste it into Amplicast

App passwords are safer than your main password because they can be revoked individually and don't give access to your account settings.

What you can publish​

  • Text posts -- Up to 300 characters (graphemes)
  • Image posts -- Text with an attached image (max ~950KB per image)

Amplicast automatically compresses images that exceed Bluesky's blob size limit.

Tips for Bluesky​

  • Bluesky has a growing, engaged community
  • Short, conversational posts perform well
  • The platform culture is similar to early Twitter -- authentic and casual
  • Hashtags are supported but used less frequently than on other platforms
